PA High student announced as Barclays Game Changer

We are thrilled to announce that a student at PA High has been selected to become a Barclays Game Changer. The Barclays Game Changer scheme aims to recruit young female footballers who can help to influence and engage others to play football in their schools and local community. Rumaysa was chosen by King Edwards VI Partnership Develop Manager, Helen Tonks for her love of football and passion for inspiring and involving others to play.

Rumaysa is one of 300 young ambassadors for football across England and will help to inspire, engage, and empower other girls, as well as parents, teachers and key decision makers to want to make a positive change for girls' football.

This includes:

  • Being a role model and champion equal access for girls' football across the partnership
  • Being the voice for girls' football in the local community
  • Helping to change any poor perceptions of girls' football in school through influencing peers
  • Sharing her story and demonstrating the impact of being involved in girls' football in school

Rumaysa will be involved in an extensive King Edward VI sport partnership football programme this year.

On becoming a Game Changer Rumaysa said, "I feel that this is an amazing opportunity for me to inspire young girls like myself to participate in football".

Helen Tonks, King Edwards VI Partnership Develop Manager, said "We are really proud to announce that Rumaysa has been selected as our first ever Barclay's Game Changer. She has demonstrated great passion for football and continually acts as a great role model in her school. Along with her teacher Miss Thomas, Prince Albert High school has been at the forefront in promoting girls' football, within the King Edward Partnership. We are really looking forward to working together to make sure that girls across the partnership have equal access to football in schools”.
