Medical Mavericks Workshop for Year 8 Students

On Tuesday 16th May, Year 8 students welcomed the Medical Mavericks for an immersive healthcare experience!

Medical Mavericks is an organisation on a mission to 'inspire the next generation of medics and scientists'. To engage young people in these fields, they offer interactive workshops, career events, and educational programs to introduce students to medical professions and provide hands-on experience.

Our students had the privilege of attending an engaging workshop to give them insight into the wide variety of careers available in the NHS. They discovered the many possibilities that are available in the medical field and had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with cutting-edge medical equipment. Year 8 used an electrocardiogram (ECG), a keyhole surgery simulator, peak flow meters, reflex hammers, infrared thermometers, and more. Some students even had a go at drawing blood from Andy (the mannequin arm).

We owe a huge thank you to the amazing team at Medical Mavericks for inspiring our students and fostering their passions for healthcare! Well done to our Science department for organising this fantastic event for our students.
