Prince Albert High School Opening Ceremony

On Thursday 18th November Prince Albert High School celebrated its grand opening with a ceremony which saw the unveiling of a plaque by Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai. 

Distinguished guests joined the special occasion which saw Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai deliver an empowering and inspirational speech on the importance of education and equal opportunities for all. Malala spoke passionately of the role schools play in being a safe place for students to explore their own potential, providing rich opportunities for students to explore. 

 

During the ceremony the student choir delivered their first ever performance and Head Scholars had the opportunity to ask Malala questions. Topics included Malala’s aspirations, and which causes sit nearest to her heart. 

On the official opening Rabia Afzal, Founding Head of School at Prince Albert High said ‘having Malala join us for our opening ceremony was a moment of great pride for us. Our students and staff are still talking about her speech and we feel that this will continue for years to come!’

Sajid Gulzar OBE and CEO of the Prince Albert Community Trust said "We were delighted to have Malala with us on such a momentous occasion for our new school and our MAT. I am sure that Malala will inspire our students for generations to come."

Prince Albert High School is part of the Prince Albert Community Trust which was founded in 2015. Prince Albert Community Trust currently serves 5 primary schools across Birmingham in addition to Prince Albert High.
